Where Did All the Money
Come From?
Rep. Pitts outspent Lois
Herr by a quarter of a million dollars and out raised her by about
$200,000. However, 92% of the money raised by the Herr campaign came
from individual donors while only 41% of the Pitts money came from
individuals. Joe Pitts raised almost as much money from PACs as Lois
did from individuals. This may explain why Joe Pitts tends to vote
with special interests at the expense of his constituents.
Raising money at the
grassroots is very time consuming, but Lois's concentration on
grassroots campaigning and individual contributions may explain in
part why her election numbers improved so greatly over the 2004
campaign.
