Pitts Votes Against
Clean Water Bills...
Congressman Joseph Pitts
has this past week has voted against the
Water Quality Investment Act and the
Water Quality Financing
Act of 2007.
Both bills passed by an overwhelming margin. Pitts was the only member
of the Pennsylvania delegation to vote Nay. There are 19 members in
the PA delegation, 11 Democrats and 8 Republicans. All of Pitt's
Republican colleagues voted for the clean water legislation.
The Water Quality
Investment Act of 2007 amends the Federal Water Pollution Control
Act to require projects receiving sewer overflow control grant
assistance to be carried out subject to the requirements applicable to
projects receiving assistance from state water pollution control
revolving funds. The bill is funded at $1.7 billion.
the Water Quality
Financing Act of 2007 amends the Federal Water Pollution Control
Act (popularly known as the Clean Water Act) to authorize the
Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to make
grants to nonprofit organizations to provide: (1) technical assistance
to rural and small municipalities for wastewater infrastructure
financing; and (2) technical assistance and training for rural and
small publicly owned treatment works. The bill is funded at $14.0
billion.
